Sotiris Svanas, editor-in chief of our Greek sister site, The Press Project, passed away yesterday. You might not recognise his name, but as a Press Project reader you would have read him every day.

Born in 1979, he graduated from the school of philosophy and has worked as an editor and journalist. Under his direction, in recent years TPP has grown from 16,000 unique visitors per month to 1.8 million during March 2015. The characteristic style and titles on the site, all his. You won’t see his name on his pieces, he insisted upon not signing them, believing that journalism was to serve the common good of society and not individual aspirations.

36 year old Sotiris leaves behind his partner and 2.5yr old son to make their own way in the world he was fighting to make better. Our thoughts are with all of his family, who are now our family too.
