In a discussion he had with the American professor of economics Kenneth Roggof, to be published in this Thursday's edition of Die Zeit, the German Minister explained that he considered the imposition of capital controls to be a possibility.
Mr.Schaueble went on to explain that he considered such a decision to be the sole responsibility of each member country.
On his behalf, Prof. Roggof proposed the imposition of capital controls in Greece for the next five to ten years while not failing to clarify that such measures are extremely controversial.
Regardless of such an imposition, in tomorrow's interview, Dr. Schaueble also asks from the Greek government to make a decision about the future of Greece regarding the single currency union: “We have promised to help you but you must be able to stand on your own feet, financially.  This is the philosophy of the rescue program.  The new (Greek) government seems to be saying: “we want the euro but not the program.”  This cannot happen.”
