During a press conference Mr. Mouzalas called the situation “manageable now that there is a clear view”.  Along with Mr. Mouzalas were the director of the Asylum Service Maria Stavropoulou, the head of the UNCHR in Greece Phillip Leclerc and Dimitris Pagidas, spokesperson for EASO.

Mr. Leclerc noted that the procedure was extremely fast and he added that according to his experience in other parts of the world this was a “world record”.
The registered migrants will be provided a card which will allow them access to education and health services as well as some form of occupation since such a thing is not covered by the current laws of the land.

Mr.Mouzalas spoke of the problems that arise for the relocation of migrants due to the denial of several European countries to accept migrants. He added that there will be further initiatives between the European foreign ministers as well as a proposal for a European Relocation Mechanism.

Further on, he announced that some migrant camps will be shut down or their population will be grately reduced as migrants are gradually put into flats and hotels which are rented by the UNCHR. According to the minister during the next two months 11.000 people will be settled into flats or rooms and that would lead to 15 less refugee camps.

Mr.Mouzalas added that several camps will also have to be changed and optimized as “some structures are bad, and we will work towards more decent conditions”.
